Uncover the Night!

Recently I got my hands on a review unit of Cyber-shot TX-7 and being a fan of the Cyber-shot series of compact cameras, I straight away tested it to see how it differs from the other compacts that I have at home.

First of all, I was so happy that it managed to solve one of my camera woes, which I blogged about here. I’m not an expert in camera reviews but I guess I basically knew what I needed in a compact camera.

It captures perfect twilight shots! With the Handheld Twilight mode, images are less noisy because the high sensitivity of Exmor R CMOS sensor coupled with BIONZ imaging processor allows the camera to superimpose six visual frames to create a single optimised image. The response time was also fast too!

There are also some other cool features about the Cyber-shot TX-7 and I think the best function that I find addictive is its Intelligent Sweep Panorama. It takes panoramic photographs without you having to take 3 different shots.

I just wished that I have time to go to KLCC to take a full shot of the Twin Towers!

The world renowned Carl Zeiss® Vario-Tessar lens delivers uncompromising quality, producing accurately detailed and realistic photos with excellent contrast. You can zoom out and capture more in every shot or accurately zoom in on the details from a distance (as evident below).

This picture was taken from an apartment on the 9th floor, and it allows up to 4X Optical zoom!

The Full HD Movie (1920x1080/50i, AVCHD) will bring your party to life! It’s able to capture the action in vivid colour and incredible details. It works even in low light conditions! Check out the video where it includes other features of the Cyber-shot TX-7.

It’s also very easy to use and the one-touch access to the Menu screen makes navigating through the settings even easier. Simply touch the area you want to focus on the screen and the camera auto focuses. While reviewing pictures, one touch and the camera instantly zoom in (up to 8X Digital Zoom). You can now also scroll through images by simply flicking on the display.

Basically, the camera is awesome due to these main factors:

  • Exmor R CMOS Sensor, Bionz & Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar
  • Handheld Twilight Mode
  • 10.2 mega pixels, 4X Optical Zoom & 3.5” Touch Panel LCD
  • Full HD Movie
  • Ease of use

The DSC TX-7 is retailing at RM1588.

I felt so sad the day I had to return the camera. How I wished if I could only win the camera through the “Night Gone Wrong Contest”.
