Sorry, this is another backdated entry. I was recently invited to attend a fashion show by Bonia. the theme was the "celebration of taste". I really don't know what to expect as this is my first time going to Bonia's event. First thought was- it's just going to be another fashion show. Rows of chairs and a runway. Boring ditto. It was raining on Thursday and everywhere was jam. By the time I arrived at Mandarin Oriental Main Ballroom, it was already 9pm. The invitation stated 6.30pm but I was more than 2 hours late! As usual, the show just started when I arrived. Typical Malaysians...punctuality is always the question.
The Invitation Card (So cute...)
Boy, I was in for a surprise when I entered the ballroom. Let me start with:
The Food
Usually they have a buffet style cocktail party with the usual finger food varieties but Bonia is different! They have quite a wide variety of food from satay, prawn tempura, noodles, dim sum, and bla..bla..bla... but the best is the peking duck roll! I had lots of it, seriously! haha...I ate my hearts out. As for dessert, the selection is huge and everything looks so tempting. Food presentation was there and the taste is commendable. They serve the food in several stations so that the guests need not crowd at one place or have to queue up for the food. Besides that, they have long table counters for the crowd to mingle and to savour on the pretzel sticks available on the tables to go with wine.

The Ambiance & Fashion Show
The Ambiance & Fashion Show
The most important of all is the ambiance created during the event. I would say that the decorations and layout is pretty impressive. The ballroom was decorated with many chandeliers and they even have a facade of the heritage buildings to make it look like a town setting. Not only they reinvent the whole place, but they have created a very nice showcase of their fashion and accessories decorated on tables. They look good enough to be eaten! It was really a talking piece. Not only we get to see the items, we get to touch them too! Haha...itchy hands I know.
He belted out 2 numbers and then followed by Gurmit Singh (Phua Chu Kang). I can't believe that Gurmit can sing so well! He sang "To be a better man" and "when you say nothing at all". He was also very entertaining.
Comfortable Moccasins on Carrots
It was not just a night of fashion show but also nice entertainment provided by Bonia. It started with Ning Baizura singing and I was busy eating so I'm not paying much attention. And suddenly the MC introduced the next singer, I was doubting myself whether I have heard the name of the next singer correctly. She just mentioned Kevin Cheng Kar Wing. It is really the Kevin Cheng from Hong Kong! OMG! It was really him.The main highlight of the event was of course the fashion show. They have used Andrewmodels agency for the supply of models and it was great. The models are all so pretty and handsome! Body was great, looks was great and clothes were great too. I wonder where can I buy these clothes..hmm..hmm.. Oh guess what, Amber Chia and Carmen Soo were one of the models too! Carmen Soo was beautiful but Amber didn't look as attractive as on printed medias.
The Entertainment
He belted out 2 numbers and then followed by Gurmit Singh (Phua Chu Kang). I can't believe that Gurmit can sing so well! He sang "To be a better man" and "when you say nothing at all". He was also very entertaining.
The last artiste to sing was Nnadia Chan Chung Ling. I had no idea what songs she was singing but rumours have that she is pregnant because of the loose evening gown she was wearing and the looks of her gaining weight. Even Tavia Yeung Yi was there to grace the occasion too. Want to know more? Read here.
The Goodie Bag
We were given a goodie bag each when leaving. This is the best part of the parties..the goodie bag! hmm.. let's see what we have here:
Me After the EventA copy of The Edge (haha..I save RM5 on this)
How cool was that? Get free booze, free food, free cuci mata (cute models), free goodies and free entertainment in a night! Bonia has done it well. I was surprised for a local brand to be spending so much for an event like this and thanks for inviting Kevin Cheng. He walked past me when I was having a drink and I didn't know it until I turn my head. He was so close! I should have asked him for a picture but my reaction was too slow and btw he had 2 security officers with him...haih... maybe I should start considering to support Bonia instead of foreign brands!
