I was at a restaurant having dinner one day and I was asked whether I wanted a "Still" or "Sparkling" water and I politely answered "Still please." I don't know why but I still don't have the habit of taking a sparkling water but I don't mind a bubbly champagne anytime! The bottle of water was rather special and I definitely have not seen it before. Usually, what one would do is to ask the waiter where he or she can locate this product but I believe in this new age, a mobile phone would be able to do just that.
I whipped out the smart phone, tap on the "Barcode Scanner" App icon and snapped a picture of the barcode on the bottle and then waited for a few seconds for the info to be displayed. On the screen, as you could see (in the picture below), you can opt for a product search, a web search or straight into the buying sites the product from the Google Shopper. It's as easy as that and then you don't even need to go through the hassle of asking the staff where did he buy this and bla, bla, bla... All the info is within the reach of a few tabs on the phone.
That is called the power of technology.
Friends were pretty impressed and asked me "What phone is that?" and I showed them the new Samsung Galaxy SII.
If you don't know what's a Samsung Galaxy SII, where have you been all these while? The TV was infested with the ads of SII when it was first launched a few months ago. Even a tech dummy like me knows how great this phone is because I owned the very 1st Samsung Galaxy S which was released last year. Afterall, this Samsung Galaxy SII is one of the firsts to use the 1.2GHz ARM Cortex dual-core processor of their own design and a host of other capabilities.
The features which entices me to this phone includes its Multimedia MP4, DivX, XviD, WMV, H.264, H.263 / MP3, WAV, eAAC+, AC3, FLAC - Connectivity Bluetooth 3.0, micro USB, A-GPS, Quadband GSM, Tri-band UMTS, HSPA, WCDMA, headphones jack, WLAN 802.11b/g/n - Memory 16/32GB onboard memory, expandable microSD up to 32GB supported, 1GB RAM - Standby Time / Talk Time Up to 610 hours / 8 hours and its Dimensions 125.3 x 66.1 x 8.49mm (for which I whipped out my ruler and measured it) Weight 116g w/battery.
Another feature highlight of the phone is it’s camera. It might be a phone camera but I assure you that the images are sharp and it can even put those entry-level compact digital cameras to shame! With an intelligent flash system, I get a camera that can pretty much capture whatever I want and I've seen what the HD Video Camera with flash can do at night! It even offers various settings tweaks and I can geotag their images too.
Whether you're pushing it to its limits with gaming or just simply browsing the web, the S-AMOLED Plus screen panel inside the Galaxy SII never failed to remind myself that it's simply better than almost everything else that's out there. With a 4.3 inch screen, you have so much space to work with and I'm loving it!
If you like gaming, this phone rocks simply because the Samsung GALAXY S II’s Game Hub lets you to download high quality games, with 12 social network games and 13 premium games. With an accelerometer, a magnetic sensor and gyroscope sensors dynamic hand and arm movement games stand out from the crowd. The slightest tilt and you’re dead – now that’s entertainment. Besides that, the loudspeakers are impressive and the sound quality is more than passable for me!
Check out the Shrek Kart game on this Samsung Galaxy SII.
And the last super cool app that I love most is the Say N Go - Samsung voice solution. You can always be vocal with this phone (reminds me of Apple's SIRI). Just double tap the home key and you can start controlling the Samsung GALAXY SII with your voice commands. Now you can take charge and execute major functions like texting, calling, accessing your music, scheduling and launching apps with the ease of just your voice and less tapping! It's most useful when you're driving and this will definitely save you from getting a fine for texting while driving! You can watch the video here.
There is so much that you can do with the Samsung Galaxy SII. If you own one, please share the other cool features with me. I would love to see what it can do besides some of the common features which I've already known. Although it’s price is pretty steep, this is one here is a helluva device. Not only updates and improvements are always on the horizon due to the open platform, but the device itself is fast and has outstanding features like the ones I've talked about. The best Android phone on the market now!
