Millesime "great vintages" in French is Max's 3rd venture in the KL "continental cusine" dining scene. I've went through all his 3 restaurants by now and I must say that I grew with Max's culinary journey and he is indeed until today, my favourite chef in KL!
At Millesime, you can forget about making up your mind because Max decides what you eat here. He looks at the weather, checks his kitchen, and the colour of his mood, he creates his degustation menu everyday just hours before dinner time! So, don't be such a pain in demanding that I want this and that. But, if there's anything that you do not take in the daily-changing-degustation-menu, tell the staff in advance and Max can always cook up something else for you.
He's really good with scallops. They never failed to tickle my palate. Sometimes if you're lucky, you might be able to tumble into truffle heaven with his wonderful Kobe beef tenderloin with asparagus and prized white truffles shaved before your eyes! Although his creations are humble and simple but they are truly bold in taste, with an interesting interwoven textures and flavours. Don't forget the Chocolate Soufle - this is one that passes the chocolate test with flying colours.
A dinner here at Millesime will not be complete without a glass of wine. Together with his partner, this restaurant here is now the first in the region to serve all the legendary 1st growths of Bordeaux by the GLASS. Have your pick: Chateau Haut-Brion, Chateau Mouton Rothschild, Chateau Margaux, Chateau Lafite Rothschild, Chateau Latour and Chateau d'Yquem all of which are of the 2001 vintage. Yes, you read me right, you just buy a glass, sip your wine, and leave the place in high spirits.
So, there's good food, good wine and the best chef in town. What else do you need? Make a date with Max and he'll sizzle your palate.
