Bruno's @ Jaya 33

* Due to some reasons, Bruno has already ceased its operations. This post is thus a remembrance.

I have previously dined at Bruno's before and I did write about it here. But it has been quite sometime since I last came here due to logistical reasons which my usual suspects would know why! It was a pleasure to be invited here to do a food review officially and I was pretty excited to do it.

I was late... again. (Huai Bin must have been cursing me and showing his disapproval for my usual lateness which is unavoidable) I shall explain in the coming post why I need to be late since I was actually at the Regional Lounge in KLIA before that. The interior is still the same, cosy, warm ambience with a nice bar. However, they now have a new menu.

Huai Bin with his salad paired with Guinness?!!

Tomato & Bacon Soup (RM16)

I had the tomato soup with bacon for starters and HB had the Bruno's Fruit & Nut Salad (RM19). The tomato soup is very invigorating because usually the tomato soup I had are served in thick and creamy texture but this one is light, with lots of oregano leaves and small bacon slices underneath. HB's salad is pretty interesting too as it has grapes, kiwi slices, wedges of black plum, roasted almond strips and walnut drizzled with a citrus dressing. I'm sure I'll be very slim if I eat that for dinner everyday!

Bruno's Sauteed/Breaded Mushrooms (RM15)

Since this is a food review, we try to sample as many different dishes that night. So, we were served the sauteed and breaded white mushrooms. The sauteed mushrooms is sauteed in garlic, herbs and glazed with butter and oyster sauce. The white button mushrooms have a earthy, nutty flavour and the texture is light and tender. I think it would go very well with some nice wine. The breaded mushrooms on the other hand is fried with breadcrumbs and the mushrooms still has its juices intact when I bite into them. However, I think the breaded mushrooms need some improvement as the breadcrumbs are not very crispy.

Char Grilled Tuna Steaks (RM48)

It's a 200g of Pacific Bluefin Tuna marinated in Chablis (a Burgundy region in France famous for its dry white wine made from Chardonnay) topped with tomato coulis (like tomato puree with basil) and then char grilled to perfection. The juiciness of the tuna is intact and the texture is tender like something that would melt in your mouth. Goes very well with the whipped potatoes and fresh garden salad.

Roast Pork with Chardonnay & Thyme sauce (RM48)

Huai Bin had the Pasta in Alfredo style with the chilled pork loin marinated in thyme and lemon and then soaked in chardonnay before being slowly roasted. It's a very interesting pork dish I must say but I find the pork loins a bit tough. The pasta was good nonetheless.

Bruno's Sirloin Maison (RM48)

They are using the Australian sirloin for its steak and it's grilled with herb butter and smothered in smoked bacon and mushroom sauce. There's even a slice of Foccacia bread at the bottom of the steak. It was unfortunate that the steak was rather tough that night but the host was very nice to offer to change it for me. The fried potato wedges are an addiction!

Bruno's Pork Burger (RM36)

This is a very nice dish as the pork patty was grilled nicely and juicy. It's topped with a caramelised pineapple ring and served with addictive fried potato wedges and fresh green salad.

Chocolate Crepe

I think this dessert is not on the menu since the host specially brought it from Food Foundry which is a sister restaurant of Bruno's. I didn't know that! What I knew was FF has very nice crepes and this is awesome eventhough they are not using my Fidani chocolate!

Ready to pig out! No one can come in between me and my food!

Overall, I find the new menu being creative and interesting with a number of pork dishes like pork chop, wine ribs and german sausages. However, if you asked me, I still like the previous menu of paella, spanish ham platter and ribs. They are a few hits and misses but I think the overall presentation of food is good. There's also an alfresco dining area where you could bask in the moonlight and chill with a small live band. The band is good btw. One thing lacking - wines!!! We had cocktails and beer that night and I know beggars can't be choosers...

Thanks to Candy for the invitation. It was a priviledge and I was happy to meet other famous food bloggers like Cumi&Ciki and Bangsar Babe. Cheers!
