Ming Court Hong Kong Tim Sum @ Ipoh

Bloody hell! The first thing you walked into Ming Court and you realised that it's very crowded, full and packed. There's almost someone waiting at every table and you have to find an empty space to stand and at the same time find a table. I still like the idea of having a number and waiting to be served rather than standing beside one and staring at those people eating so that they hurry up and give me a seat!

If you ask the locals (Ipohrians), they prefer this outlet for Dim Sum compared to Foh San which is just across the road. My first choice would always be Ming Court unless I really couldn't wait, I'll walk over to the one opposite. And most of the time, we share tables with others. If there's only 2 or 3 of us, it's better to share tables than to wait for an empty table. My friends and I waited for more than 20 mins for a seat and that is also thanks to another couple who is willing to share their table with us.

There will be a lady carrying trays of Dim Sum around and you just pick what you like.

One thing I like about the Dim Sum here is that they came in small little stainless steel steam pots. The dim sum here is fine and dainty unlike some that are big and overwhelming. Here, you can try more varieties of dim sum due to its petite serving size.

The "yue mai" here is smooth and silky. This has to be eaten while its warm.

The BBQ Pork Buns here is a must too!
The meat is tender, isn't too fat and bursting with bbq flavours.

The pork dumplings "siew mai" is another classic dim sum that I would order everytime. It's a mixture of pork with prawns and a good combination of lean meat and fats. It should be eaten while it's still warm.

The Prawn dumplings "har gow" is another feature here. The prawn is fresh and succulent while the rice skin is thin and delicate.

Porridge is one of my staple diet at Dim Sum places. This one here has century eggs and tender minced pork. The porridge texture is so smooth! I do like the small portions they served here because I need to make space for other delights.

Hue Gee says "I only eat chee cheong fun" in Ipoh. The steamed rice rolls in Ipoh are incredibly smooth and it's also one of my must-order dish at a Dim Sum place. I like the sauce which has a taste of fried shallots, soya sauce and sprinkled with roasted sesame seeds.

Eiling, Jasmin & Hue Gee - We grew up with Ming Court Dim Sum.

Thanks to Jasmin for buying us breakfast at Ming Court and driving me around during the weekend in Ipoh. And for all the things we had (including a few plates of other dim sum), the bill came up to RM38. What?!! That's a steal and I always have this reaction after I get the bill in Ipoh - "wahhh, so cheap!!!!"

After that, we head straight to Ipoh Mountain Tau Foo Fah for a fix before we drive back to KL. Hue Gee bought us the super smooth tau foo fah and did you know that I had 3 bowls of it in 2 days?!! Hehheh.. it is damn good!
