A decade too long...

Su Ann in her wedding bliss...

Ten years just got by in a zap of lightning. That's how a decade feels like to me right now. If it had not been Su Ann's wedding, I would not have driven all the way back to my hometown in Ipoh to attend her wedding dinner where I met some of my school mates from MGS which I've not seen or spoken to for a good 10 years!

Weddings at hometown always have that gathering of ol' school mates feeling to me. One could really feel that camaraderie which is so different from those feeling that you get from friends you've just known. These are friends whom you grew up with, and probably fought with in school and then became friends again...

A doctor marrying a doctor. Now they can treat each other!

So far, this is my 2nd wedding dinner invitation in Ipoh and I was surprised at how good the food was back at my hometown. No need for glitzy weddings in 5 star hotels or gigantic restaurants as a simple restaurant like here serves really good food. It must have been an auspicious date as there were 4 weddings held at the same restaurant. Now imagine the confusion when every couple made their grand entrance and exit. Then there was this singing war going on. We have uncles & aunties belting out Hokkien songs on the upper floor and my friend has a band singing downstairs.

My BFF - Jasmin the Paleontologist.

I couldn't be more entertained with Jasmin's explanation of what she does with her PHD studies in paleontology. It's a study of prehistoric life which includes the study of fossils to determine organisms' evolution and interactions with each other and the environment. She is now conducting a full time research on sea corals of current years. Fyi, CURRENT in her term means 5 MILLION years! One could really awe at what she does and good for her as she really enjoys it. Guys, no hope to pick her up as she is already married to a doctor. Yeah, I forgot to mention that this wedding dinner is full of doctors and you don't need to call 911 for any emergencies.

School mates from primary to secondary school.

All so pretty and grown up now. When we talked, we could really say to each other that it has been more than 10 years from high school and how have you been, where are you working now and bla, bla bla... But the ultimate question was "When are you getting married?!!" And I said, "Don't look at me, I'm sticking to my single hood. For now."

My trip down to Ipoh to attend Su Ann's wedding was so worthwile and that I marvel at every morsel on my plate. During the whole night, I was saying "wah how come the chicken tastes so smooth and silky?" It's Ipoh chicken la... Isn't that what Ipoh is famous for? (no pun intended). The prawns were big, fat, juicy and succulent. Most of the dishes were delicious and I enjoyed it from the Four season platter to the crispy pancake dessert. Now I wonder, why can't wedding dinners in KL give me this kind of taste quality and why do I pay more ang pow for less delicious food? Go figure (I told myself).

I can be a yummy mommy too without having a relationship or getting married or going through pregnancy.

Don't stare at me! No, I didn't kidnap the baby. She came to me. Maybe I had a motherly look? Haha.. and the best thing was, she didn't cry. Probably she was too fascinated with my pretty clutch. Hmm... she has the potential to be one fashionable lady because she was really interested in my red nails too! Ok, I also want a baby now.

Too bad it's only a night in Ipoh. I would really love to go back more often to meet up with Jasmin and indulge in such good food at even better prices! Everytime the bill comes, I would stare into my friend's eyes and send this "wah, very cheap" signal to her.
