Before I depart from KLIA, I decide to have a breakfast at Old Town White Coffee and I was craving for a bowl of Ipoh Chicken Hor Fun. I was really disappointed with the prawns as it was not fresh. I can taste that it has been frozen for quite some time before it made it to my table. Sigh...
There is one thing I liked to eat while in Bangkok - Mango Sticky Rice. I don't know why but somehow, the mango sticky rice tastes better in Thailand. I like the sweetness of the mango, the fragrant sticky rice and the thick coconut sauce that accompanies the dish. You can also buy a box of fresh mango sticky rice at the Kingpower duty free shops for 150baht. It's expensive but they are really good!
The Pullman hotel is located right beside Kingpower Duty Free and the best thing is - there's a shuttle "tuk-tuk" that takes you to the nearest BTS Skytrain station (Victory Monument) which is linked to Century Mall from 7am to 11pm and also a shuttle van that takes you to/from the Pratunam market 2 times a day. From the BTS skytain, it's just 2 stops away from the Siam Paragon Shopping Centre. It's a bout 30-40 minutes to the airport on a taxi. It's just very convenient!
There are altogether 386 rooms in this hotel and I was upgraded from a superior room to the deluxe room. The WiFi is complimentary throughout the hotel and for the deluxe room, I get to enjoy 2 complimentary soft drinks a day and some Kingpower duty free discounts. The bed was very comfortable and the toilet is tiled with marble. The bathtub section also opens up to the bed area and the wardrobe opens both from inside the toilet and also from the room.
The breakfast at Cuisine restaurant was not too bad either. One of my must haves in Bangkok is always its Tangerine juice. How much I love thee... To me, it tasted much better than the normal orange juice. I can drink at least a few glasses at one sitting. The breakfast buffet includes the usual western breakfast, the oriental breakfast of congee and also noodles, sushi, ham & cheese cold cuts and fruits.
Overall, I'm very happy with my stay at Pullman. I think I'll come back again as it is much more convenient than Banyan Tree although the latter has a nicer resort-like rooms and a wonderful bar on top of the hotel. It's much cheaper here too as rates starts from USD$110 nett!
After dinner, if you walk down the streets, there are some street stalls in front of Century Mall and I bought quite a few stuff from there until I was left with 17baht. I was still not satisfied and thus, I walked back to the hotel to change the rest of my USD$50 into baht and start shopping again. There are some massage outlets too and one of it was has a very nice ambiance and it's 800 baht for a Thai massage there.
The best place to stay if you want to shop at Kingpower duty free which is just a few steps away. It carries an array of branded goods from Tumi to Bvlgari and food products. I was looking around and I saw a Ralph Lauren Polo T on sale and it was just 1200 baht!! Too bad I didn't get to buy it because you have to make your purchase at least 4 hours before your boarding time. They will send the goods to the airport and you'll have to collect it from the Kingpower counters after immigration.
I'm looking forward to my next stay at the hotel!
