Kampachi @ Pavilion KL

Last weekend was one of those spontaneous moments when I don't know what to eat for dinner while roaming around the shopping complex. I've heard so much buzz about the new Tokyo District in Pavilion KL where they dedicate a section on the 6th floor for some Japanese food outlets as well as stores selling Japanese products.

Initially, I really wanted to try the much-talked about Hokkaido Santouka Ramen but it was crowded. The funny thing is, the next door Japanese restaurants seemed to be empty. Hmm... But anyways, I didn't feel like braving the crowds and thus turned to Kampachi for a quiet dinner of just some simple food.

First I had the Miso Soup which is like an obligatory starter for all Japanese indulgence. I liked it as it is laden with generous servings of tofu cubes and seaweed.

Sashimi Moriawase (5 types) RM160
The sashimi slices are indeed all very fresh. The cuts are thick and satisfying!

Soft Kani Maki RM48
This is the soft shell crab roll with cucumber and fish roe. I love this maki as the soft shell crab is flavourful and deepfried to a perfect crispy finish!

Tempura Moriawase RM42
This is an assorted tempura with prawns and some vegetables. The dipping sauce, usually the dashi soup stock is delicious too!

Shake Aburi Maki RM60
This is a seared salmon rolled topped with grilled eel. This is one of the recommended maki as it has both my favourite salmon and unagi. It might be a little to big to eat in one bite though.

This is also the same Japanese restaurant as the one in Equatorial Hotel. Certainly the prices is not cheap as the bill comes up to RM300+ for these few dishes but the quality is there. Not too bad a place for some Japanese food if you happened to be shopping at Pavilion.
