1st Trip to Langkawi after 2 years

It wasn't exactly my first business trip to Langkawi. Actually the previous 2 trips to Langkawi happened to be business trips as well with my two previous companies. Sadly, the last time I had a tour of Langkawi was when I was in primary school! And for all the business trip, the most convenient hotel happened to be Bayview at Kuah town. It's known to be a business hotel where the rates are quite reasonable and you don't even need a car to town because it's just within a walk away.

This place is always fully book and therefore an early booking is recommended. I paid RM175 for a Deluxe room with a seaview under the corporate rate. The rooms does not come with ironing facilities but you could always ask for one if you need it. And I couldn't remember finiding a hair dryer too although I read from the website that they do provide one. The standard toiletries are provided except toothbrushes. Buffet breakfast is included.

It's so nice to wake up with a view like this! Nevermind the lack of class and luxury at the hotel because I only use the room for less than 9 hours a day. My day begins at 10am and I won't be back to the hotel until after 1am...

Kuah town is really small and it's filled with duty free shops that sells liquor, chocolates, tobacco, kitchen ware (like Vision, Corell, Tefal and Luminarc) and souvenirs. It only takes you a day if you plan to shop for all these items. I was there for 3D2N and now I know the shops there at the tips of my fingers! It's so funny coming here to meet the retailers daily but I was enjoying the work because they refered me to "the principal" instead of just a supplier... hehe...

Seriously there were not many choices when it comes to chinese cuisine/restaurant in Kuah. There's one beside Haji Ismail Group and this one is frequented by the locals because of it's affordability and fresh seafood.

Weng Fung Restaurant has been opened for quite a long time. This restaurant serves really fresh seafood because you can just practically choose what you want to it from the fish tank filled with crabs, mantis prawns and the smaller lobsters. The fishes are transported here fresh from the sea although they come in an ice box and liveless...

Prices here are quite okay with Live Lobster at RM24/100g, Live Tiger Prawn RM18/100g, Live Mantis Prawn RM13/100g and Crabs at RM7/100g. They also serve a few different types of fish from Grouper, Red Snapper to Promfret at RM7-16/100g. The other meat/vege dishes range from RM10-RM40 depends on whether you want small, medium or large portions.

A cooling Pandan Coconut is a must in Langkawi!

We had a number of dishes from clams, Kangkung with Belacan, Steamed Mantis Prawn, Vegetable soup and also it's signature 3 Tastes Red Snapper. The fish is fried and poured over with a concotion of soya sauce, vinegar and garlic. As claimed by my distributor, no where else did it better than this shop in Langkawi!

One more thing, it's really difficult to find a chinese restaurant that serves pork. Most of them here do not have pork on the menu.

Complimentary dessert of fruits with Rojak sauce.

Come early or else this place will be full by 7pm as it's just a small shop. I find the food is commendable as they did the seafood dishes well and the price is affordable.
