Chelsea in Malaysia

I am no football club fanatic but I did not want to miss the chance of seeing Chelsea live on last Tuesday, 29th at Shah Alam Stadium. I rather pay RM83 for the ticket here than fly over to Stamford Bridge to catch a glimpse of the Blues.

Honestly I'm pretty lazy to update because:

1. Most of the time I don't know what's going on. I only know everyone is trying to possess the ball.
2. Chelsea vs Malaysia, how interesting can it be right?
3. It's just a friendly, why so serious?
4. I don't know any players in the Malaysian team.
5. I was busy snapping pictures.

I heard they expect a 40,000 strong crowd but 50,000 turned up.

Well, I was glad that I came and I experienced a football match live at a stadium and not in front of the TV on the couch. The getting out of the stadium was hell because it took us 30 minutes waiting in line in the car just to get onto the main road. I was all sweaty and smelly but I've no complaints. We were also quite smart. At the first half, we were seated near the Malaysian goal knowing that there will be no action on Chelsea's side. During the second half, we moved to the other side, knowing too there will be no action at the other end. Haha. My 2cents worth for the game. The hero of the day would of course be our Malaysian goalkeeper! At least it's a 2-0 win over Malaysia (or Chelsea was really being friendly). Not too bad huh?

Nice jersey. I bought it when I was in London in Lily Whites and had it printed with his name and a significant number.

Chelsea, Chelsea....

I was there at Shah Alam Stadium yesterday. Never have I been to a live football match and this is definitely an experience to me as I get to see John Terry, Frank Lampard and Petr Cech live! The getting into the stadium and getting out are the experiences I wouldn't like to repeat. Ok, will update on the story soon. By the way, Chelsea 2 - 0 Malaysia. Not too bad a score if you ask me. Better than a 7-0 or 5-0 anytime. My cherry popped for Chelsea.

EURO 2008 FINALS : Spain 1 - 0 Germany

I had barely 2 hours of sleep and I have to report to work this morning. How wonderful if I can just take half a day off to bask in the joyous occasion of my winning football team. It was indeed a miracle that I can wake myself up at 2.45am this morning to walk downstairs and switch on the TV to see the live match between Germany and Spain.

When everyone else in the universe is betting on Germany to take home the trophy, I chose to stand by Spain still. Not because they have more handsome players or they have a 69-year-old coach that looked like he's 85 but because of their spirit and performance in this championship.

Spain has had it bad years, never pass the quarterfinals for almost 2 decades and this time, they manage to play in the Finals. The win was long awaited after 44 years since their first win in year 1964.

Both teams had used the 4-5-1 formation for the match. Spain played well in the first half of the game, having a very clear shot at the goal at 22' by Fernando Torres but the ball went sliding off Lehmann's fingers at the side of the goal post. However, that did not deter him from scoring at 33' when Lehmann allowed the ball to fly past him. Lehmann, at 38 years old is too old for the game. His movement is somehow rather slow. The crowd was estatic. This is the goal that differentiate them from the Germans in winning the title. The Spaniards have more shots on target than the Germans during the first half. It was as if the Germans didn't try hard enough.

Hero of the day- Fernando Torres (9)

During the second half of the game, the spanish players were more laid back and was defending rather than attacking until towards the 15 mins to the end of the game, they tried their luck for another goal. The Germans were all the way attacking during the second half to score an equaliser but luck were not on their side. In midway, the italian referee booked both team's captains Michael Ballack and Iker Casillas over a row between their players. Michael Ballack has been in bad luck because he was really not performing to the standards yesterday, loosing ball possession and had fouled in numerous occasions. German's Schweinsteiger was also in a bad shape, with bad estimation in scoring a few times as he clearly had some good shots on target opportunities.

After the 90mins + 3 mins injuiry time, it is obvious that Spain is taking home the trophy. I would say that Casillas had done well in the game by pushing away several near goal attempts with his superb skills. Luis Aragones might be the oldest coach, but he sure is still mighty. Joachim Loew looked dejected and so did the players. The rejection and disappointment on their faces were apparent. Spain on the other side was savouring their victory and kissing the trophy. It was fresh to see Torres at 24 years old, brought glory home today. He was also the one that was attacking in the whole match until he was substituted by Daniel Guiza towards the end of second half.

I'm wearing Red today in support to my team's winning. I'm also expecting a free home cooked meal and RM50 I won from the betting *wink*

Go Spaniards!!!

I am definitely in a very good mood this morning as I know that my favourite team in Euro 2008 has made it to the FINALS!!! Yay... It's a 3-0 win over Russia.

Not that I am a football fanatic, but I do like certain matches and of course I'll extremely like it if my player is in the match, whom is none other than Iker Casillas. I think I am in love with him for almost 3 years already and it was really a delightful moment to see him again in the big match against Germany this Monday 30th June at 2.45am. Hmm... I think many people will be on leave on Monday so I am expecting a traffic-jam-free next Monday. Just don't disappoint me.

Iker has been performing very well in the Euro 2008, where he managed to save two goals from the penalty shootout against Italy! Well done! This morning, he did very well in saving a good header from Russia at 88'. OOoooh, it’s difficult to believe that such an accomplished player, in the one position that most favors experience over youth, is still so young and he's just 27 years old. Ladies and gentlemen, meet the best keeper in Spain, and perhaps the best in the world.

IKER CASILLAS (pronounced as "Ca -sias")

Why would I say he's the BEST?!! This year in La Liga, Casillas won the Trofeo Zamora for top keeper in the league, allowing just 32 goals out of 36 matches, for a ridiculous average of 0.89 per game. No one else was under 1. Without that kind of stability at the back, Real Madrid never would have taken this season’s La Liga title, the team’s 31st and Casillas’ fourth. To go with his Zamora trophy and four league medals, Iker has won two Champions Leagues, a UEFA SuperCup, and an Intercontinental Cup. I am truly looking forward to Spain vs Germany. The Germans has been indeed almost the universal's favourite but the Spaniards are no loser either. They have come a long way, it's just that they never have the luck to win big titles even with such an impressive team. I'll keep my fingers crossed. Gol, Gol, Gol....Que tengas suerte Espana!

An All English League UCL Final at Moscow!

Just a quick recap, 2 goals from Didier Drogba and a penalty kick from Lampard seals Chelsea's place in the Champions League Final in Moscow next month.

During the first half of the game, Kalou's chance of scoring was beaten away by Pepe Reina but as the ball slipped away from the goal keeper, Drogba smacked and score at the 33rd minute, securing Chelsea into the finals. There was however a sniff of offside if you do look properly at the game. Maybe it's just an illusion but if luck were on Liverpool's side, then the 33rd minute goal would be disqualified!

However, during the second half, Torres managed to put Liverpool back into the game by scoring a equaliser. The ball went past Petr Cech without a hitch.

Frank Lampard

So that was 1-1. At the first half of the injuiry time, Ballack managed to win a penalty for Chelsea and Lampard took the kick. The ball went past the goal to the right as Reina dived to the left. It was an emotional win as Lampard was hugged by his fellow team mates. His father, Frank was in the crowd too. It was his first game after his mother's demise.

Didier Drogba

However, at 3 minutes before the end of injury time, Babel's speculative 40m shot managed to bamboozled Petr Cech and sent the ball into the goal. His goal kept Liverpool's dream alive however but short-lived. Drogba once again showed the world what he can do by sealing Chelsea into the finals at 105 minute. Drogba once again has emerged as the savior of the day for the blues!

Chelsea will now have to face Man Utd in the coming UEFA Champions League Final in Moscow! This will definitely be a must-watch match. It will be a clash of the titans! Well, at least this is what Chelsea can do to repay billionaire Russian owner Roman Ambramovich for the millions of pounds he had invested in Chelsea since 2003. This match interestingly have also end the Reds jinx at Stamford Bridge. Liverpool had not been scoring for the past 8 visits there and Torres managed to break the hoodoo at 64th minute.

Can't wait to catch the finals between Chelsea and Man Utd.

I was at Original Kayu in SS2 watching the most anticipated EPL match when the blues clashes with the reds. Actually I was expecting another boring match with 11 silly men from each team running around the field kicking one small miserable ball. I mean how interesting can it get if it's not a World Cup?!! I am no fan of both teams because I only like Real Madrid for silly reasons of course. What's more to see in a match other than ogle at the handsome and buff looking football players right?


You have the right to differ because there's actually more to football. I understand now why guys prefer watching at the public places like mamak stalls because of the atmosphere. People clad in their favourite team jerseys and shouted when there's a slightest chance of scoring. For me, I was busy savoring my nasi Kandar during the first half of the game.

Nemaja Vidic

At the ninth minute, United's Nemanja Vidic was carried off on a stretcher with a facial injury. He was bleeding from the mouth after Drogba's knee knocked into his jaw and it's a pity for him to exit within less than 10 minutes of the game.

Michael Ballack

The hero of the day for the Blues was Michael Ballack. Two goals from him kept alive Chelsea's title hopes as they overcame Manchester United 2-1 in a pulsating clash at Stamford Bridge.

Ballack had given Chelsea a 45th minute lead and he sealed a vital win in controversial circumstances by slotting home a penalty five minutes from time. However, a monumental blunder by Ricardo Carvalho gifted United a 55th minute equaliser to Wayne Rooney.

Ballack's goal sparked emotional scenes as all the Chelsea players held up Frank Lampard's number eight shirt with the message 'Pat Lampard - R.I.P'. Ballack who had taken his shirt off, was then booked by Wiley. It was a tribute to Lampard's mother, who passed away from pneumonia on Thursday.

With Chelsea's 2-1 win, it is now on par with Man Utd with chances of grabbing the EPL trophy this season. However, the goal difference is quite significant and with 2 more wins from Man Utd, they'll emerge as the champions in this EPL. Just looking at Christiano Ronaldo's egoistic face can send me boiling. Someone please just break his leg!

Chelsea's coach - Avram Grant

I think Avram Grant should be quite happy with his team's performance yesterday. Drogba, Cole and Shevchenko had done a good job yesterday in preventing a near equaliser from United. Drogba has been very fit and they were talks of Chelsea wanting to sell him off to Barcelona. During the duration of the game, there were a number of dramas of fighting scenes between the two teams. It was interesting though to see the players head lock with each other. I know I am evil... muahahaha....

Sometimes it just feel so funny to see a German player saving the day for an English club. Where have the good English players gone? Why clubs are allowed to sell and buy players as to when and where they wish? Don't they care about the players' feelings when deciding who and whom has to be sold? At the end of the day, it's just another game and money. It's my waste of time trying to understand how the game works so I just sit down and enjoy and learn not to ask stupid questions during the match.

The food is not that great with the price you pay for. Mind you, these Kayu Kayu names are not cheap. Yesterday was packed with football fans and the guys are all smoking when the tension intensifies between the teams. Hello?!! It's not even you playing the games, so why so stressed? Do you know that football not only causes heart attack but it shortens life too due to heavy smoking and numerous teh tariks!

No reason to say football is a healthy sport if you are not in it. Watching kills.
