Last weekend, I told Merkaine that I wanted to try this restaurant in Bangsar Village that serves everything rice. It was quite a brilliant idea to come up with such a name for this place. It's called Ricetaurant, which indeed serves many rice dishes!
This is another restaurant by the BIG group which owns other eateries like Ben's, Plan B and also the Canoodling next door to Ricetaurant which serves everything noodles! How creative! I like the deco of this place, modern oriental chic design. Less is always more. I love the lineup of silver tiffins on top of the open kitchen counter.
Look, even their menu is printed in the form of a school workbook which they amicably called it as the "Primary School of Rice". How cute. Even the inside pages where the names of the dishes are printed in the blue squares of the workbook. It looks like one of those workbook used for mathematics.
Since Merkaine is still very full from the Chee Cheong Fun breakfast, she decides to have just the dessert. This bowl of sea coconut is indeed refreshing on a hot afternoon.

I felt like having a bowl of porridge that afternoon. On the menu is the Teochew Porridge with Condiments (RM17.90). Yes, it might me the most expensive porridge but at least it comes with a bowl of soup of the day (Radish soup on Saturdays), condiments such as salted egg, preserved vegetables with chicken, fermented tofu, crispy anchovies, roasted peanuts, mushrooms and bittergourd. Ok, out of that 8 little dishes, there are 2 that I don't take.
The set also comes with a dessert of the day which is the green beans with wheat porridge. Although this is also not what I would usually take, I did finish the whole bowl. Green beans aren't exactly my favourite.
After that, I cool down with a glass of Lemograss Green Tea. The total bill adds up to about RM40+ for all these food that we have ordered. I don't mind coming back to try other dishes but there's something I need to say here. The staff here aren't exactly the smiley, friendly type. There seemed to be something that all the BIG restaurants share - unfriendly staff. Hmmmph!
