A large earthquake hit 125km off the northeastern Japan today on March 11, 2011. The Japan earthquake measured 8.9 on the Richter scale and it triggered tsunamis and sending a massive body of water filled with debris that included boats and houses inching toward highways.

There are reports of tsunami waves hitting the Miyagi prefecture in Sendai area. The Japan public broadcaster NHK Public had aired the Japan tsunami video that showed cars, houses and buildings being swept away by water.

It was reported that the buildings in Tokyo was shaking and fire was also reported in the capital and other parts of Japan.

A tsunami warning has also been issued for Russia, Marcus Island and the Northern Marianas. A tsunami watch has been issued for Guam, Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia and US state of Hawaii.

In times of this, there's nothing much we can do except to sympathise with their misfortune. It's so difficult to understand the wrath of mother nature and looking at this situation, I am glad that I lived in Malaysia where we do not have earthquakes and typhoons or hurricanes.
