There'll never be an end to chicken rice obsession (if there is one). Funny how this popular and sought after dish is simple but yet people would go out of their means to find the outlet that sells the best chicken rice! Well, I would! There's nothing more satisfying than having a plate of chicken rice that is tasty and cheap!

Whenever I'm in the island, I would always prefer to eat chicken rice if you asked me what would I like to have for lunch. Like I said, the obsession in search of the best chicken rice will always be there. Actually, come to think of it, there isn't much bad chicken rice either in Singapore! Johnny insist that I must try this particular chicken rice stall at Maxwell Food Court. The stall is claimed to be serving silky smooth chicken and have received many compliments and publicity too. Even Anthony Bourdain whom also tried this stall was impressed too!



If Olympics have got a medal for queuing, Singapore would win hands down! Honestly, they like to line up for almost everything. And to prove that you are a true Singaporean, you will unknowingly wait in a queue for something which you don't even know what you're lining up for! Haha... (no offence to true blue Singaporeans out there ya?!!) Malaysians in general are impatient people. We don't like queues. So it's either we beat the queues or we eat something else.

Yeah, so Johnny and I waited in line for almost 15-20 minutes before we get to make an order. We were there at about 3.00 pm and who could imagine why so many people want to eat chicken rice at that kinda time?!! It's a self-service, so after you get your food, you have to look for a place to seat. It's really a hassle if you're here alone. It's not easy to get an empty table so I politely asked an aunty whether I could share the table with her. Generally, I think people don't mind sharing tables over there.



As you can see, the chicken really is silky smooth! I usually will try to avoid eating the skin but you know what?!! This Tian Tian Hainanese Chicken Rice has got very nice chicken skin!! It's smooth and tender. It doesn't give me an awful feeling of chewing chicken skin. It's not that I don't like to eat chicken skin, it's just that I prefer if the skin is roasted or fried! hehe... The rice itself was very fragrant. I think it must have been the butter, pandan leaves and chicken stock that was used to cook the rice. And the best thing is, it's only S$2.80 a plate!!!

Tell me, where can you find a RM2.80 chicken rice in KL? Even the worst chicken rice would not be so cheap. If you want to order half a chicken, it's S$11 and for drumstick portion, it's S$3.0o. So this does tell you how much more expensive is our food prices in KL. Imagine if I earn RM3000 here, I pay RM5 for my chicken rice but if I earn S$3000 in Singapore, it's only S$3.00 for my plate of chicken rice.

To ease our thirstiness, we had a big glass of sugar cane with lemon and a glass of lime juice. Both of these only cost me S$3.00. OMG *again* Can you even see these prices S$1.00 and S$0.80 a glass at our food courts here? Never!

I have not tried the chicken rice at Chatterbox in Mandarin Orchard. They claimed to have the best Chicken rice in Singapore too where it's frequented by famous people. Well, you can choose whether you want a S$3.00 chicken rice here in Maxwell Food Court or a S$30.00 one at Mandarin Orchard with air con and nice service! haha...
