Hokkaido Santouka Ramen @ Pavilion KL

This place would have been blogged to death by now. I am probably one of the last people whom recently went and try the ramen there after reading the raving reviews of this place since its opening in August. This is a branch from Hokkaido and before, the nearest place that we can get this is in Singapore. The outlet is located in the Tokyo Street section of Pavilion on the 6th floor which has been transformed to everything Japanese. You can find a few specialty stores here selling Japanese products and a few eateries on Japanese food.

The reason why it took me so long to have a go at this place is due to the long queues. You don't get queues at the other outlets except this one. And what for I rush through my meal? I rather come back when there's no queue so that I can sit down and enjoy my ramen in my own sweet time.

One fine day, I was wandering around Pavilion at 6pm after buying some books and find myself really hungry since I haven't taken lunch as well. And so I thought, why not give this ramen place a try? I walked in, and there's only a few tables occupied. Isn't it perfect? No queue, no crowd!

There are a few choices on the ramen and the staff recommended the Shio Ramen, which is the salt flavour ramen. It's available in 3 sizes (RM22.50 for small, RM25, for regular and RM29 for large). I had a small one since I would be having dinner at 8.30pm.

The soup is really good. The mild, pearl-coloured Tonkotsu soup is made with pork bones, vegetables, dried fish, kelp and other ingredients. What I also realised is that the temperature of the soup is not at boiling point. According to them, they kept the soup at optimal temperature for to create the perfect bowl of ramen for maximum enjoyment. The noodles are springy and flavourful and it's imported and not made on the spot. The shio ramen came with sliced pork, bamboo shoots, narutomaki, and leek. I think the sesame seeds did make the soup very flavourful.

I really love the ramen here. Of course I will return to try the other ramen on the menu. For me, this small bowl is enough to fill me up! I licked the bowl clean too except this cute-little-red-dunno-what.
