Inti Subang Jaya, was once a humble building besides Taylors. However, recently, a 10-storey-building had just sprung beside Taylors and now making ICSJ the tallest college in SS15. Going back to the college to see the launching of the new buiding on the 1st of August 2008 is like walking down memory lane again. I've had so many fond and bitter memories in Inti and the 2-storey buildings where my classes are held might not be in existence in a few more months anymore.
I was invited back to the college for the joyous cocassion for all intians as an alumni to witness the launching of Inti's pride. It was indeed a pride because for years we have been looked-down (pun intended) by Taylors. Their multi-storey building beside Inti was a sore eye as the students hanging outside the class rooms would look down upon us. Haha...now it's playback time although I wouldn't have an opportunity to use the building but at least I felt proud!
Honestly I have no idea why they chose 1st August 2008 which also coincides with the first day of the Hungry Ghost Festival. Maybe it's a good day?!! Hsu Jen was the co-MC of the night. This time, Inti paid her. My college is good at squeezing the talents out of students and not paying a cent for it! The programme of the night includes the VIPs walking down the red carpet with students in various costumes of their own nationality, lion dance, Gu-zheng duet, some dancing and of course fireworks!
I was so surprised by the fireworks display and I was really excited because never in my 4 years there I was treated to such a scene - a scene where they will really spend money to make things look good! Ok, maybe I was talking bad about my college but at least they make me proud this time around - after I left of course!!!
The alumni turnout was not too disappointing. All of them are familiar faces whom I've known them during the time when I was the Vice President of the student government. It was really memorable because at that time I was involved with a few clubs, sports and societies and there was where I widened my circle of friends from different schools of studies. Gosh, I really miss the times then.
After having a tour at the new building, we adjourned to Ms.Koh's office. She's the director of students' affairs (as in who's having affair with who). We chat and chat until midnight. Usual topics - who's with who and which couple broke up! I told her that Inti's new building should dedicate one classroom to be named after the Lim Sisters because after all, we have contributed quite a big sum to Inti through our years of tuition fees! Obviously Inti wouldn't be doing that.
